Healthy. Strong. Smart. Bold. + Educated.

Girls Inc. of Worcester aims to empower young girls and teens with the resources and confidence to succeed. For over 100 years, since 1916, Girls Inc. of Worcester has been an active community organization dedicated to building a safe space for girls to grow.

The Worcester branch is part of a larger network of Girls Inc. community organizations first founded in 1864.

The new mural on the gymnasium wall features girls in the program and inspires them all to be strong, smart, and bold.

Dr. Trish Hutchison, Girlology Foundation Co-Founder, has always been inspired by the incredible work Girls Inc. has done across the nation. When she saw that Girls Inc. of Worcester CEO Victoria Waterman was looking to grow their menstrual health education resources, Hutchison immediately reached out. Both organizations aim to connect girls ages 11-14 with resources to empower them to take charge of their health, and both organizations are currently looking to expand.

Girls Inc. of Worcester’s has already taken monumental steps to address obstacles to access to menstrual resources through their GirlPad grab-and-go program. Girls Inc. of Worcester recognized a need for period products, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic adversely impacted families in their community. The partnership with the Girlology Foundation allows them to focus on education in addition to product distribution, addressing known gaps in menstrual health and puberty education, and strengthening their goals of increasing access to health and wellness resources.

Girls Inc. of Worcester is also creating a dedicated “Girls Health” space within their newly renovated center where their youth will have access to on-demand Girlology video classes and other resources.

For the Girlology Foundation, Girls Inc. offers an opportunity to expand geographically–and start connecting with like-minded community organizations looking to provide menstrual health education across the nation.

The Girlology Foundation’s relationship with Girls Inc. of Worcester has opened up the possibility for exciting future partnerships with Girls Inc. affiliates across the country. The Girlology Foundation hopes to match with medical schools in communities where Girls Inc. affiliates are active and to connect the youth in these communities with essential menstrual health resources.
